“Past hurts, present hurts, distance, memories I live by, motherhood, childhood, I tell a story”

I’m a mother of a 2 year old girl who lives in Pretoria with her grandparents. I live in Johannesburg. The distance between Ntando (my daughter) and I is no foreign issue. I’ve discovered a path of memories. My mother and I lived apart from each other and my mother was also distanced from her mother, this made me realize that what’s happening between Ntando and I happened in the past: “Same script, different cast”

It’s like a lifecycle. My artworks explore the emptiness that I feel in me and memories of my childhood. My works are a combination of poetry of prints and drawings. These set of drawings are part of a series of work that I’ve just completed about distance and memories.

THE STORY OF MY LIFE-THEN AND NOW!
