He joined Artist Proof Studios in 2004 as a part time student. In 2006 he completed 3 years as a full time student working in linocut, wood cut, dry point, marley tile etching, drypoint and monotypes.
Wesley has had experience as a gallery assistant, worked at the Northern Cape visual arts and crafts forum as well as co-founded Reunited Siblings, a spoken word and fine art company (www.reunitedsiblings.co.za) that has published three anthologies.
He writes that:
Being an artist I found it extremely hard to adapt to the everyday life, I always found myself crawling inside a cloudy head, full of perspectives and perceptions of what is normal and why am I hear. In life everything is either, a solid, liquid or gas. And since it’s all matter, and matter is, pure energy. I find myself bouncing too and from this world and my own.
My art is the consequence of that reaction.
